The Daughter of A Young Mom

This is Avery.

She is the daughter of a young Mom.. But she wouldn't know that.

She was conceived when her Mom was only 18 years old. The first time her Mom knew of her existence: she cried on the bathroom floor. But Avery wouldn’t know that. The first time Avery and her Mom saw each other: it was all happy tears. She never wanted to let her go and that is all Avery knows.

Avery wouldn't know that her Mom is growing up, alongside her, on a daily basis.

Avery wouldn’t know that her Mom stays up for hours after she goes to bed and finishes all the homework she isn't able to do during the day.

Avery has a Mommy who has dance parties with her, takes her to the park, crawls around on the floor and plays games with her. She wouldn't know how hard her Mom works to balance out the daily life of being a parent, college student and fiancé.

Sometimes, her Mom and Dad struggle to make ends meet, but Avery wouldn’t know that. She always has a roof over her head, and all the food and toys she could possibly need or want.. and then some.

Her Mom and Dad aren’t married. Her Mom even has a different last name as her, other people may find this wrong, but Avery doesn’t know any different. She knows of a Mom and Dad who love each other and love her more than anything in the world.

Her parents fight every day to beat the stereotypes or the statistics against themselves, their relationship or her family, but she wouldn't know that.

Despite of Avery’s parents ages, careers, marital status; she is a perfect, well adjusted happy little girl.

  1. As long as a kid feels loved and paid attention to none of the other stuff matters. And one day she'll appreciate how hard you worked to balance being a mom and student. Good job, mama!

  2. Such sweet words! I'm sure even though she doesn't know how to properly put it in words yet that Avery is and will always be so grateful for you and all the hard work that goes into raising her.

  4. This is SO sweet! It's sad how judgemental people are these days. All that matters is that she is happy, healthy, and most of all loved. By the look of things you exceed at giving her all those things and more. Keep up the great work Mama!
